Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Electric devices influence each other when interconnected or close to each other. The purpose of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is to keep all those side effects under reasonable control. EMC designates all the existing and future techniques and technologies for reducing disturbance and enhancing immunity.
EMC compliance of the products are assessed by the relevant EMC test standards. If the product pass the relevant EMC tests, test report is issued and this report shows the product’s compliance.
EMC testing is performed in EMC testing laboratories. There are various types of EMC labs. They can be grouped into two: pre-compliance and full-compliance. Small businesses (manufacturers, third-party service providers) may prefer to have pre-compliance EMC labs. Full-compliance EMC labs are mostly owned by accredited EMC labs and bigger manufacturers or designers.
